Protein Database
The Protein Database contained 28992 entries at the end of 2004. The following graphic shows the exponential increase of entries in the database:

Now more than 40.000 molecular structures of biomolecules have been integrated into the database (14. November 2006). Some of the 3D-structures within the Protein Database are defined drug targets. They can be used to design novel drugs. See drug design.
